Most of the time, your loved ones just need someone who is willing to listen to them, not judge them. However, we often mistook listening with giving pieces of advice which may be unsolicited.

Instead of judging your loved ones, you have to make them feel like you understand and accept them, whatever they may be going through. Active listening encompasses both verbal and non-verbal gestures including eye contact and more.

Make sure to listen attentively.
